Rottweilers are Frank & Anne Marie Szebedinszky and
family.
Our love affair with Rottweilers
was born over 35-years ago. In 1975 we bought some land near
Greenbank with the purpose of breeding, raising, fitting and showing
Appaloosa and Quarter horses.
We
wanted a dog with
some size but hadn’t decided which breed to buy. We checked out
a few different breeds but then, through a friend-of-a-friend, we met
J.J. Kolodzie and his rottweiler, Drummer.
He was a big boy with a sweet disposition and a huge licking
tongue. I fell in love the first time we met him.
Fortunately, J.J. knew
of a family with a young female rottie who needed to be placed to a new
home.
We
lucked out when we bought Fairvalley’s
Gora in late 1975. She fit in perfectly with our
family! We took her to obedience classes and she was a
natural. Our children were
“hers” and she followed them everywhere.
.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:.
We lost Gora
several
years later but she had taught us that rottweilers were the ONLY breed
we wanted! Then we met Peter Mehnert (von Königsberg) and all of his beautiful Rottweilers.
We had never seen so many Rottweilers in one location before. It
was heaven. We bought a male from Peter in 1986.
We called
him Bear
and he was sired by Kiev (ES-85
Cliff von der Moosheide ~ HD-frei ~ ADRK Zb-Nr.:063737.
There are so many stories about
Bear …. Everyone who went to school with our kids knew him and loved
him. To this day we still hear tales of him! He had so much
personality and was so much fun to have around!
.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:.
The idea of
being without one of these exceptional dogs encouraged us to buy a
female from Peter. We called her Katy
(Königsberg's
Sahara) and she terrorized
Bear
until the day she died of cancer. Katy was a great farm
dog!
She was crazy about water and the two dogs spent lots of summer
afternoons
in the creek. They carried fenceposts around our pasture like
they
were toothpicks! We lost our beloved Bear at the age of 11.
Before we lost him though, we
bought Sarsen’s
Thief of Hearts ~ OVC
Hips 000474. Carly was sired
by Can CH Damien’s Intrepid Tycoon Can CD. RO-35005G29M-T and out
of Helena von Damien RO-33633G36F-T)
from Mike
and Irene Jackman. They had some amazing males there who all ran
together to play. Carly was the most beautiful girl we had ever
seen. Her breeding was exceptional and we planned to breed her to
a show dog. But one night when I was at home alone with her she
ran out onto the highway to “protect me” from a hitchhiker she
saw. She didn’t see the car. She now lies in our pet
cemetery and is waiting for us with Gora and Bear and Katy at the
Rainbow Bridge (along with a few of our favourite horses – it’s a BIG
bridge!)
I was heart-broken and called
Braxenburg Rottweilers in tears. We drove to Minden and met Braxenburg’s
Waltzing Matilda (I call her Millie). Millie will turn
11-years
old, July 20, 2010.
"Millie"
She is by
the
gorgeous 1998 SRC Youth Sieger/1998
Canadian National Youth Sieger/Am/Can/UKC CH Braxenburg’s Chasing Dragonz, CGC and out of CKC
pointed
Jeikridge's Warrior Princess and we love her to pieces still. She
eats anything and everything and has had the surgery to prove it.

Then, in
2001, our world of rottweilers changed forever. Dianna Contin
imported Diva od Dragicevica from Yugoslavia for me. Diva is OVC
Hips/Elbows Clear # 012440, OFA Heart: RO-CA1341/49F/C-PI.
Diva is a repeat littermate to the famous Beni x Bessy vom Haus
Krammer combination. She is sound, full of temperament and an
overall
excellent female. As Diva lives on a farm, she helps with daily farm
tours and recently passed her Herding Instinct Certification on sheep.
